Lusaka, August 6, 2023, ZANIS—The second largest sugar company in Zambia, Consolidated Farming Limited based in Kafue District in Lusaka Province, has donated a cheque of K100,000 to Muchinga Province as support towards the hosting of the Muchinga Investment Forum and Expo in October this year. Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Henry Mukungule received the cheque at the Lusaka Provincial Administration boardroom during the handover ceremony yesterday. The Permanent Secretary said Consolidated Farming Limited has also committed to establishing a rice processing plant in Isoka District in Muchinga Province. He further said the approach taken by Consolidated Farming Limited to support the Muchinga Expo through monetary and committing themselves to establish a rice processing plant in Isoka District will bring development and create employment to the local people.

 

Mr Mukungule said he is grateful that more investors have continued to come on board to support the Muchinga Expo, an act that shows that the province will hold a successful Expo. He stated that it is so far anticipated that the event will not only open up Muchinga Province to investors but link the region to the global world through promoting green, healthy and sustainable development in the province. The Permanent Secretary further appealed to Consolidated Farming Limited and other investors who are interested in investing in the province to have a provincial-driven development agenda where the government through the provincial administration will provide an enabling environment. He added that the private sector is expected to set up the actual investment to link small-scale and medium enterprises in and outside the province to big investors for the expansion of their business ventures as well as provide market linkages. Mr Mukungule further thanked all institutions that have already come on board so far to partner with Muchinga Province as sponsors, investors and exhibitors.

 

And Riyaz Mulla, who spoke on behalf of Consolidated Farming Limited said the company will continue supporting Muchinga Province in its developmental activities. Mr Mulla said development is one of the company’s key agenda adding that it is the hope of his company that the cheque donated will help in holding a successful Muchinga Expo. He further encouraged both local and foreign companies to support Muchinga province in its developmental activities.

 

And Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) Director General Albert Halwampa has thanked Muchinga Provincial Administration for partnering with ZDA in ensuring that the province is marketed. He said Muchinga Province is a new province that needs each one’s efforts if it is to be developed. Mr Halwampa added that ZDA is doing everything possible to ensure it brings investors to Muchinga province adding that soon the province will change its face. “As ZDA we want to see Muchinga Province develop in all the sectors and see the local people be employed,” he said. Among the people who attended the handover ceremony were Muchinga Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Matthews Chilekwa, Provincial Director of Finance Burasho Kabengele, Consolidated Farming Limited representatives, and the media among others.
