PS MUKUNGULE MEETS MORE INVESTORS

ZANIS —MUCHINGA Province Permanent Secretary Henry Mukungule has appealed for more investors to invest in Muchinga Province if the area has to record meaningful development. Mr Mukungule said companies and investors should take advantage of the Muchinga Expo slated for October this year to invest in the province if the province is to be developed.

The PS mentioned that there is need for local and foreign companies to invest in the province even before the province hosts its Investment Forum and EXPO. He mentioned that Muchinga Province has a lot of investment opportunities in sectors such as Agriculture, Tourism, Energy, Manufacturing and Mining, among others, that companies can tap in. The PS added that the Province also boasts of easy access to markets and connectivity to the Road and Rail network as well as Energy and Communication systems because of its geological location.

“For this reason therefore a favourable location for investment such as fertile soil, favourable climatic condition and plenty of land for Agriculture and Livestock Production among others are some of the things companies and investors can enjoy,” He said.

Mr Mukungule added that in the tourism sector, the province has plenty of wildlife in several National Parks and unexploited Tourism potential in the Bangweulu Swamps as well as in the Lungwa south national park. He said having such in the area can bring development which will see the province change its economic land scape. Mr Mukungule was speaking at the on-going Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Ndola District on the Copperbelt Province yesterday when he met various companies who may wish to support the Muchinga Expo to be held in Chinsali District this October.

He said the participation of Muchinga Province under northern circuit at this year’s Trade Fair is a plus to the province as it will market and woo companies and investors to support the forthcoming Muchinga Expo. Among the Companies that the Provincial Permanent Secretary held meetings with are Development Bank of Zambia, Zambia National Building Society (ZNBS) and Dangote.

Meanwhile, the companies met have assured the Provincial Permanent Secretary that the issue will be taken seriously and discussed further with their head offices. The 3 companies have since commended Muchinga Province for planning to hold the Muchinga Expo saying the act will help develop the area as it is underdeveloped. The on going Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) is being celebrated under the theme “Stimulating Economic Development through Partnership, Trade and Investment“.
