MUCHINGA Province Permanent Secretary Henry Mukungule has called on the Muchinga Investment Forum and Tourism Expo organising committee to expedite the preparations for hosting the event in October this year.

Mr Mukungule says with five months remaining to host the Expo, there is much that is needed to be done for the successful hosting of the expo.

Speaking on his behalf by the Provincial Deputy Permanent Secretary Matthews Chilekwa during the expo preparation monthly meeting at the Provincial administration boardroom today, Mr Mukungule charged that there are various subcommittees that have not made impressive progress in the preparations for the event.

He stated that the success of the Expo is highly dependent on the enormous inputs of all committees which are expected to give positive progress reports during the main Expo organising committee monthly meetings.

“Let us stop talking about sending letters to investors and other stakeholders of interest now, but start implementing our plans,” he said.

The Provincial Permanent Secretary, however, commended other committees such as the publicity committee for successfully implementing their plans towards marketing the hosting of the Expo.

And the Investment Committee Chairperson Victor Mulopa disclosed that about 15 proposed investment sites in Mpika district have so far been identified.

Dr Mulopa said the identified sites are composed of various investment potentials such as mining, agriculture, energy and tourism.

He stated that the committee is optimistic that many investors will take interest in at least 4 or more of the investment sites that have so far been identified.

“We actually received an overwhelming response from our partners that were tasked to identify these sites and we are grateful,” he said.

Meanwhile, Muchinga Expo Coordinator Maurice Kamenda, said about 3 communities from the Province have brought mineral samples for analysis, adding that this development will help in the quick identification of investors in the mining industry with interest in the mineral samples.

Mr Kamenda further appealed to other communities to make other samples available to their respective district centres for continued analysis.

The Expo Coordinator announced the decision for all subcommittees to start meeting weekly while the main committee will be meeting bi-weekly to accomplish the tasks ahead for hosting the investment and tourism expo.

The first ever 2023 Muchinga Investment Forum and Tourism Expo is slated to take place from the 3rd to the 8th of October this year.
