LUSAKA – The Zambia State Insurance Corporation (ZSIC) has committed to refunding all civil servants in Muchinga who have been subjected to salary deductions without holding active insurance policies with the corporation.
The development follows an engagement between Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Dr. Tuesday Bwalya and ZSIC Life Managing Director Mr. Colins Hamusonde, during which the PS raised a formal outcry regarding the unauthorized deductions affecting government employees.
The PS demanded immediate remedial action, stating that the affected workers had been facing deductions on their payslips despite having no contractual relationship with ZSIC. The PS urged the corporation to refund the affected employees with immediate effect.
In response, Mr. Hamusonde acknowledged the administrative lapse and assured Dr. Bwalya that the corporation is prepared to rectify the error. He confirmed that all affected employees will be refunded as soon as a comprehensive list of the impacted workers is compiled and submitted to his office.
In light of this commitment, the PS has issued a directive to all Human Resource departments within the province to urgently compile the names and details of all affected personnel.
Once the consolidated data is received, ZSIC is expected to commence the refund process without delay to restore the trust of the public service workforce.
