ISOKA, MUCHINGA PROVINCE – Government has commissioned seven Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects in Isoka District valued at over K7.5 million.

Speaking at the ceremony, Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Dr. Tuesday Bwalya stated that the increased CDF allocation has empowered communities to determine their own development priorities.

The projects cover education, health, sanitation, and governance. Mwenikasi Primary School received a 1×3 classroom block with 75 double-sitter desks at K1.1 million to complement the free education policy.

Health facilities commissioned include Nazareth Health Post in Nkombwa Ward (K1.1 million ), reducing a 25-kilometre journey to Katyetye; Malale Health Post (K1 million); Chizongolo Health Post (K1.2 million); and Lualizi Maternity Annex (K1.1 million), expected to reduce maternal and neonatal deaths.

The Sansamwenje Market Ablution Block (K601,503) and a furnished National Assembly Constituency Office (K1.1 million) were also handed over.

The Permanent Secretary highlighted free education and expanded bursaries as key tools for breaking the cycle of poverty. He commended the Isoka Town Council, Ward Development Committees, and contractors for their work, and urged communities to protect the facilities from vandalism.

Muchinga Province is located in the northeast of the country and was created in the year 2011 after detaching it from mother province – Northern Province. The name of the province originates from the Muchinga Escarpment; on which it predominantly sits. The province elongates from southwest to northeast and is located on both sides of the Muchinga Mountains (Muchinga Escarpment).
