Government says it is considering integrating Paul Mushindo University with Kapasa Makasa University in Chinsali District of Muchinga Province.
Education Permanent Secretary for Education Services, KELVIN MAMBWE, announced the proposal during a meeting with university management and student union leaders at Kapasa Makasa University.
Dr. MAMBWE said the move would help create one university with adequate infrastructure once implemented.
He said Government will engage relevant institutions and stakeholders before making a final decision on the proposal.
Dr. MAMBWE added that the initiative is intended to address limited infrastructure at Kapasa Makasa University while strengthening the delivery of higher education in the region.
Meanwhile, Dr. MAMBWE disclosed that Government has expanded student bursary awards from 21,000 in 2021 to more than 40,000 in 2026.
And Kapasa Makasa University Vice Chancellor, Professor JACOB MWITWA, assured Government that management will continue making progress in fulfilling the institution’s core mandate of teaching and research.
Meanwhile, Kapasa Makasa University Students Union President, GIFT SIYANDWE, pledged the union’s commitment to maintaining peace on campus.
