The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts has continued its momentum on Day 2 of the 10-Day Youth Empowerment Tour, this time reaching young people in Mafinga District of Muchinga Province, where 202 youths have benefited from various empowerment initiatives.
Through the government’s ongoing youth empowerment programmes, the beneficiaries received motorbike loans and business grants aimed at strengthening entrepreneurship, improving mobility, and supporting income-generating activities within their communities.
Youth, Sport and Arts Minister, Hon. Elvis C. Nkandu, who is in Muchinga Province for the empowerment tour, also extended support to sports development by donating 20 sets of football jerseys and 20 footballs to local teams and clubs.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Nkandu urged the youth to apply the resources responsibly, emphasizing discipline, proper management, and timely loan repayment to ensure the continuity of the programme for future beneficiaries across the country.
He further encouraged young people to avoid unruly conduct and resist negative social media influences. Instead, he urged them to follow examples of individuals who champion peace, hard work, and national progress.
Hon. Nkandu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young people through sustainable empowerment programmes, noting that Zambia’s youth possess the capacity to drive genuine and lasting development.
“Our youths are the heartbeat of this nation. With the right support, discipline, and mindset, you can transform not only your own lives but also contribute significantly to the development of Zambia,” he said.
