Over 4.6 million Kwacha has been injected towards the construction of a new state-of-the-art Mazingo abattoir in Mpika District, Muchinga Province.
Speaking when Minister of Fisheries and Livestock, Mr. PETER KAPALA, toured the facility, Mpika District Operations Officer for Transforming Landscapes for Resilience and Development (TRALARD), MWENI MUBANGA, said the project is fully funded by the World Bank.
She said the new state-of-the-art abattoir in the District is strategically positioned, and that farmers rearing goats and cattle can bring their animals for sale.
And Fisheries and Livestock, Mr. Peter Kapala was impressed with the quality of meat products being sold at the facility.
Mr. Kapala said it is the desire of the Government to create more abattoirs in each District across the Country.
The Minister was flanked by the Mpika District Commissioner, Mr David Siame, the Mpika Town Council Secretary, Mr. Samuel Musenga, the Director of Fisheries and Livestock for Mpika Town Council, Mr. Singa Donatelo, among other senior Government Officials.
