
Kanchibiya April 19, 2023, ZANIS—Chief Mpepo of the Bemba People has called on the business Community and other stakeholders in Kanchibiya District to seriously embrace and support the Muchinga Expo and Investment Forum slated for 3rd to 8th October this year.
Chief Mpepo made the when Kanchibiya District ‘Muchinga Province Expo Coordinating Committee team paid a courtesy call on him at his palace yesterday.
The traditional leader said that the business community should take keen interest in ensuring that the various investment opportunities that Kanchibiya District possesses are well advertised, saying this will greatly help to unlock a lot of economic activities in the District.
Chief Mpepo said Muchinga Province investment expo is a golden opportunity that must be well cherished and utilised if the districts like Kanchibiya and Muchinga Province as a whole is to get the best out of it.
“There is a need to seriously utilise the investment forum in order to change the economic fortunes of the District,” Chief Mpepo said.
He pointed out that Muchinga Province has a lot of investment opportunities such availability of water bodies, abundant wildlife, fertile soils and minerals among other investment opportunities which he said are currently underutilised.
The Chief urged for urgency among all stakeholders to seriously network and make the forthcoming Muchinga investment expo a success.
“Local investors must take a leading role in spearheading this investment expo because it will bring more benefit to them,” Chief Mpepo said.
Meanwhile, Kanchibiya District Coordinator for Muchinga Investment Expo Peter Phiri has emphasised the need for Kanchibiya residents to bring forth all the possible investment opportunities that are in the District.
Mr Phiri said Kanchibiya is endowed with remarkable investment opportunities that can significantly uplift the economic activities of the District and Muchinga Province at large.
“We need more investors to invest in Kanchibiya District,” Mr Phiri said.
And Action for Nature (AN) Executive Director Kangwa Chilekwa said Kanchibiya has a lot of natural resources such as natural Chibwa salt, Bangweulu Wetlands and plenty of arable land among other things that can help bring much revenue if well harnessed.
“We need to seriously network and have strategies that will spur significant development activities in the district,” Mr Chilekwa said.
