Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Henry Mukungule has appealed for more investors to invest in Muchinga Province if the area has to record meaningful development.
Mr Mukungule said investors should take advantage of the Muchinga Expo slated for October next year to invest in the province if the province is to be developed.
The PS mentioned that there is a need for local and foreign investors to invest in the province even before the province hosts its Investment Forum and EXPO.
He mentioned that Muchinga Province has a lot of investment opportunities in sectors such as Agriculture, Tourism, Energy, Manufacturing and Mining, among others, that investors can tap in.
The PS added that the Province also boasts of easy access to markets, and connectivity to the Road and Rail network as well as Energy and Communication systems because of its geological location.
“For this reason therefore a favourable location for investment such as fertile soil, favourable climatic conditions and plenty of land for Agriculture and Livestock Production among others are some of the things investors can enjoy,” he said.
Mr Mukungule adds that in the tourism sector, the province has plenty of wildlife in several National Parks and unexploited Tourism potential in the Bangweulu Swamps.
He says having such in the area can bring development which will see the province change its economic landscape.
Mr Mukungule was speaking at the on-going Western Province Expo in Mongu this morning when he met various potential investors who may wish to support the Muchinga Expo next year.
Among the potential investors that the Provincial Permanent Secretary held meetings with are Musika, Absa Bank and ZAMSEED Company.
Meanwhile, Musika Managing Director Reuben Banda has assured the Provincial Permanent Secretary that the company is ready to support the Muchinga Expo.
Mr Banda said discussions have come at the right time which will allow his company to plan well for the event.
“Just after the Western Expo, depending on what level of engagement you want us to move in, we can be part and parcel of your technical working group,” Mr Banda said.
He adds that there is a need to hold meetings and put up a roadmap for the event.
Meanwhile, Absa and ZAMSEED assured the Permanent Secretary that the issue will be taken seriously and discussed further once they get back to their head offices.
The Western Province Expo currently on its day 3, has seen a lot of investors coming on board.
